An insurance system responds quickly to those affected and makes it possible to repair, give continuity to productive activities and avoid the collapse of an entire sector or region that is directly and indirectly affected (Banks, agriculture, independent workers, consultants, companies of services, etc.).

A good coverage system requires the support and promotion of the government, in such a way that risk diversification guarantees the continuity of the insurance system.

The session clearly advances the integration of the application of the Sendai Framework and the SDGs through a central focus on the issue of disaster displacement. This issue appears in the Sendai Framework as an important element of disaster risk. In SDG issues, there is evidence of the implications of displacement at the level of compliance with the SDGs, with specific relevance in SDG 11 but synergies with other objectives.

We know that the role of regional media in disaster risk reduction is critical, but how do you make this issue more clear and visible both to your audiences and to the media?

There are many challenges, much information available and immediate action imminent, so several journalists from some of the region's most respected media outlets will share their experiences and raise questions, as well as answer questions from the audience.

Regarding the alignment of this session with the Sendai Framework, this session will seek to contribute and support the strengthening of institutions, coordination mechanisms and networks in the education sector that are aborting the issue, contribute to monitoring the progress of the initiatives aimed at reducing disaster risks and increasing the availability and access to evidence related to disaster risk experiences and information.

This session contributes to advancing the four priorities established by the Sendai Framework, especially in a) strengthening governance for DRR, through the promotion of the LAC Women's Network for DRR, and b) expanding information and knowledge for DRR, through its core focus on science, technology and innovation (STI) for women-led DRR.
