For this new edition of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean, a prominent role will be given to the agenda of science, technology and the promotion of the effectiveness and coverage of early warning systems (Target 'G' of the Sendai Framework).

It is considered necessary to channel science and technology as fundamental inputs for disaster risk reduction, particularly in terms of decision making, feasibility, development, financing and implementation.
